Teaselwood Style ~ Home for the Holidays Tour

Home for the holidays – is there any place better? But, when it comes to decorating that home, it can be a real doozy.

There is oh so much hustle and bustle swirling around our lives like a flurry of angry snowflakes this time of year, why not skip the fuss of over-doing your home décor and just keep it simple and cozy? That’s our mission at Teaselwood, anyway. We deck the family farmhouse halls in simple Scandinavian inspired holiday accents and target certain areas to dress up more than others. Less is more. And the more the merrier. And the goal of this season is to be merry after all, is it not?

This year, to simplify even further, we are keeping things neutral and organic (read: calm and relaxing after all of the other holiday hub bub; just what the doctor, or yogi perhaps, ordered) and incorporating inspiration from our Nordic friends, such as beautiful combinations of White, plaid, silverwith hints of red, and a pop of natural greens and pinecones wherever they fit.

How about a little tour through our home to see exactly what we’re talking about? Fabulous. Come along on our bHome for the Holiday Tour.

In our  house, more specifically the dining room, we create a holiday focal point with a stunning table scape. In keeping with our theme of farmhouse-simplicity-meets-Scandinavian-design, we stick to a neutral scheme with hints of red. We pair a red-and-white grain sack runner with super soft linens plus our exclusive stoneware small dishes that are paired with plaid plates and fun rustic silverware for pure holiday perfection. Add to that a mantel dressed in simple greens and star garland and you have one charmingly cozy space for gathering and feasting with your family all season long.

Fresh flowers as a centerpiece is always a must and do not have to cost a lot of money. I have used simple grocery store roses , a simple white serving bowl and evergreen clippings, from our yard. Taking a walk and clipping evergreens is always feels great when decorating to take a breather and breath fresh air. The sled adds a great bit of fun to the holiday table.

Little clippings of pine with a velvet ribbon wrapped around it adds additional color to the place settings.

Lastly candle light is always perfection at this time of year. Votives  that are mercury glass add a bit of sparkle and the birch pillars tie into bringing nature inside.

Next on Santa's decorators list? The place where the major magic happens, the living room. Our is small because of being an old farmhouse so we concentrate all of our holly jolly on a few accents pieces and the tree. We start the Christmas process after thanksgiving by adding a few holiday pillows and throws. Our big tree decorating day comes a few weeks later. Layering textures,  with plaids and velvets give a coziness to the room to make you want to snuggle up and watch your favorite Holiday show.
