Integrating Multiple Textures and Surfaces to Create Balance

fall 2022

Throughout the house we carry a neutral color palette throughout with hints of blue. We also used woods in varying tones that add interest and depth.

We worked with the architectural and building team of wadsworth design to help with the finish details. It was a team based effort working closely with the home owners and the wadsworth team on every step of the way.

Finishes

Eggshell

Low-luster, with a subtle sheen and called eggshell for a reason – it’s got the texture of one!

Raw wood

An eco-friendly plaster finish for smooth interior walls that provides texture and movement.

Stone

Pearl-like shine that provides an easy-to-clean finish making it ideal for kitchen cabinets.

With as many textures working throughout the Mountain house color had to be a nod to nature and spot on to work with all the different materials. With most of the house wood we needed a color to work on the walls throughout the space and tie everything together. Our favorite hands down white to work with wood is White Dove by Benjamin Moore. White Dove is a warm white with a slight hit of gray that tones down the yellows in the wood. It works will with stone as well where it blends with the grays but keeping the warmth.

Designer Tip

Working with an abundance of hard surface wood, metals, and stone can create mass texture and focal points. When Teaselwood designed this space we used fabrics that have great texture and hand feel in lighter colors to contrast and soften all the rich textural surfaces. Wallpapers were selected in a simple tone on tone color palate to warm the space but not overwhelm it.
